Terms of Service
Last updated November 2, 2026
These terms govern your use of Renbu, an AI competition platform operated by MuseLab, based in Tokyo, Japan ("we", "us"). By creating an account or joining a competition, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.
Each competition also has its own rules, shown on its page. If a competition's rules conflict with these terms, the competition's rules apply to that competition.
1. Your account
- You can sign up with an email address and password, or with Google, GitHub or GitLab.
- To join competitions or use the playground, you need a confirmed email address and a profile with a display name and handle.
- Keep your login details secure. You are responsible for activity on your account.
- Renbu uses cookies to keep you signed in and to work properly. See Cookies in our Privacy Policy.
- One account per person. Don't create extra accounts or share yours with anyone. See Fair play.
- If you are under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or legal guardian's permission to use Renbu.
2. Joining competitions
- Competitions are open to everyone unless a competition's rules say otherwise.
- Joining a competition takes a seat in it and means you accept its rules. You can only submit to competitions you've joined.
- Some competitions have a limited number of seats. When they're all taken, you can join the waitlist if the competition has one. Seats that free up go to people on the waitlist in the order they joined, and we email you when you get one.
- In a competition with limited seats, you may need to make your first submission within the time shown on its page after getting your seat. If you don't, your seat goes to the next person waiting and we email you. You can join again, at the back of the line.
- Each competition has a daily submission limit, which resets at midnight in the competition's time zone. Respect its limits and deadlines.
- You can leave a competition at any time before it ends. Your seat goes to the next person waiting.
- If we remove you from a competition for breaking its rules or these terms, you can't join it again.
3. The playground
- Some competitions have a playground, where you can try a prompt on one item of the public dev set at a time with the same model and settings that score submissions. You don't need to join the competition to use it.
- Playground tries are free and limited to the number per day shown on the page. Tries that fail because of a problem on our side don't count. They're never scored for the leaderboard.
- We may change the playground's limits, or close it, at any time.
4. Fair play
- One person, one account. Don't create or use more than one account, take part through someone else's account, or let anyone else use yours.
- Don't try to access hidden test data, share it, or game the scoring system, for example by probing the leaderboard. Don't get around submission limits, playground limits or seat rules.
- Don't share code, prompts or answers privately with other participants during a competition unless its rules allow it.
- To keep competitions fair, we look for signs of rule breaking, such as accounts that share networks or prize payment details, near-identical submissions from different accounts, and unusual submission patterns.
- Before paying a prize, we verify the winner's identity. A winner who can't be verified, or who used more than one account, isn't paid.
- If you break these rules, we may remove you from the competition, disqualify all of your accounts, withhold or reclaim prizes, and close your accounts. Places and prizes then go to the next eligible participants.
- If you think we've made a mistake, contact us and we'll review it.
5. Your submissions and scoring
You keep ownership of the prompts and files you submit. You give us permission to store, run and evaluate them, including by sending them to the AI model provider that answers the test items, and to show their results (for example, scores on a leaderboard) as needed to operate the competition. Our team can see your submissions and the model's replies to run competitions and check fair play.
Your best score in each competition goes on its public leaderboard automatically. What you submit stays private: other participants can't see your prompts or files. After a competition ends, you're free to share your own solution.
Submissions are scored by sending them to an AI model, whose answers can vary from one run to the next. Each submission is scored once, as described on the competition's page, and that result stands. If a problem on our side affects scoring, we may score affected submissions again.
When a competition has a private test set, the live leaderboard is not the final result. After the end, we score each participant's best submission on the private test set once, and that ranking decides the winners.
Some competitions ask winners to release their solution under an open-source license or share a write-up. When that applies, it is stated in the competition's rules before you join.
You confirm you have the right to submit what you upload. Don't submit malware, content designed to attack or disrupt our systems or the model providers we use, or content that is unlawful or infringes someone else's rights.
6. Fees
Many competitions are free, and we cover the model costs of running your submissions and playground tries. Some competitions may ask participants to cover their own model or compute fees. Any fee is shown on the competition's page before you join.
7. Prize policy
- Prizes are described on each competition's page, along with how winners are chosen.
- Any winner who is legally able to receive a prize may receive it. We verify your identity and eligibility before paying out (see Fair play).
- If a winner is under the age of majority where they live, a parent or legal guardian must accept the prize on their behalf and complete any paperwork.
- The country or region you represent on your profile is for display only. Eligibility, sanctions checks and tax depend on where you actually live and who you are, verified before payment.
- Winners are responsible for any taxes on their prize. We may need tax forms before paying, and may be required to withhold tax.
- We cannot pay prizes where the law prohibits it, including to people or places subject to sanctions. If a winner is ineligible or doesn't respond within 30 days, the prize may go to the next eligible participant.
8. Your profile and acceptable use
Your profile, display name, handle and photo are public. Don't use names, photos or other content that impersonates someone, is offensive, or infringes someone else's rights. We may change or remove content that does.
Don't use Renbu to:
- break the law or infringe anyone's rights;
- harass other people on Renbu, or misuse contact emails people share;
- overload, probe or disrupt the platform, or try to access other users' accounts or data;
- scrape the site or use automated access, except through tools we provide.
9. Our content
Renbu's software, design and branding belong to MuseLab. Competition datasets may come with their own licenses, shown on the competition's page. Use them only as those licenses allow.
10. Suspension and closing your account
You can stop using Renbu at any time, and ask us to delete your account (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. If we do, any prize eligibility for affected competitions may be lost.
11. Disclaimers and liability
Renbu is provided "as is". We work to keep it available and to score submissions accurately, but we can't guarantee it will be error-free or uninterrupted. Model replies shown on Renbu are generated by AI and may be wrong. To the extent the law allows, MuseLab is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of Renbu.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we'll tell you by email or on the site before it takes effect. Continuing to use Renbu after that means you accept the updated terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. The Tokyo District Court has exclusive jurisdiction as the court of first instance for any dispute arising from these terms or your use of Renbu.
